Why did you decide to pair Shane Scully up with a new partner, Sumner “Hitch” Hitchens?

Shane has had partners in the past, but he’s really worked alone.  I wanted to team him up with a guy that he hates, but at the same time is envious of.  So you’ve got these two guys who don’t get along, Shane and Hitchens, which creates conflict, but they gotta work together to solve a bigger conflict, a high profile triple murder.  So, slowly, as they get to know each other, they start gaining respect for the other.  It’s that relationship dynamic that makes the story more interesting than just, here we have two cops trying to solve a triple murder.
